The Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, “DPA”) imposed a EUR 10 million fine against Uber in December 2023 for multiple breaches of the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”).

The Serbian Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC) has denied Roche and ADOC's request to extend their exclusive distribution agreement exemption, marking a significant shift in regulatory oversight. This July 2024 decision affects the distribution of three crucial pharmaceuticals: Kadcyla, Perjeta, and Tecentriq.

On 4 July 2024 the Serbian competition regulator – the Commission for Protection of Competition (“CPC”) published its draft proposals of four new regulations on exemption of certain categories of agreements from the prohibition of restrictive agreements (block exemption regulations, “BERs”).

In late October 2023, the Serbian Parliament was quite busy with a significant number of legislative changes and novelties on its docket at the 26 October session. With the development of different technological solutions and the ever-growing need for faster and more efficient transaction processes and less paperwork, companies are increasingly searching for ways to simplify and digitalize their contracts signing and documentation handling. Relying on general terms and conditions (“GTCs”) gains relevance in this respect. In Serbia, however, in view of the prevailingly rigid courts, one of the main challenges of this digitalization process lies in finding an efficient, but at the same time a legally certain way, to validly contract one’s GTCs.
